A
native and long-time resident of Chesapeake,
Virginia, Ryan Baker is a graduate of
Deep Creek High School. While he was
a student at Deep Creek, Ryan won 2
regional wrestling titles, and competed
twice in the State finals; winning second
and third place honors, respectively.
He then attended Virginia Polytechnic
Institute and State University in Blacksburg,
VA on a wrestling scholarship, and majored
in Biology. After spending two years
at Virginia Tech, Ryan decided to start
his working career by seeking a job
where he could best display his talents.
He found the challenges and the artistic
niche he was looking for within the
construction industry, as a concrete
specialist.
Baker
began his new career working primarily
on large-scale commercial projects,
gaining a vast, practical knowledge
of concrete properties for many different
applications and in different climatic
environments. After a few years’ time
and with steadily increasing responsibilities,
he was eventually promoted to the position
of Superintendent, where running multiple
crews as well as overseeing large jobs
provided ample tests of his planning,
scheduling and management skills.
